EXCELLENT Based on 79 reviews Posted on Ryan GrubishTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Christian helped get our basement carpet back in order after we had to pull half the room back for water mitigation from all the rain in April. The carpeting was flipped over and all scrunched up for months as we got the issue fixed. The last piece to button up having our basement back was re-stretching the carpet. This was just another day at the office for Christian, as he got it looking better than it ever has. Great communication and professionalism, thank you!Posted on David TobergteTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Absolutely worth it! Christian did amazing work getting wrinkles out of our bedroom carpet. He moved all of our furniture around the room in order to tuck the carpet, and then he carefully put it all back. We didn't have to do anything - not even remove anything from the dressers. When he was finished, he vacuumed the room! Christian was friendly, prompt, professional, reliable, and texted when he was on his way. We highly recommend him.Posted on Scott Swaffer (Swaf)Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. What GREAT service! Christian did an outstanding job communicating quickly as well as taking care of some dangerous areas in my 93 year old mother's house. Thank you so much!

Loose or shifting carpet on stairs isn’t just annoying — it’s one of the biggest trip hazards in any home or business. Ripples, slack spots, or lifted edges on steps can cause slips and falls fast, especially for kids, seniors, pets, or customers. If your staircase carpet feels loose, bunches up when you step, or looks worn along the edges, it’s time for a professional repair.
At Compass Carpet Repair, we specialize in expert loose carpet step and staircase repairs throughout Cincinnati, Ohio, and Northern Kentucky. We re-secure, re-stretch, and refit your carpet so every step is tight, smooth, and safe — restoring both the look and stability of your stairs without the cost of full replacement.
Stairs take more abuse than any other part of your carpet. Every step puts pressure on the same small areas over and over, which naturally loosens the carpet over time.
Common causes include:
Heavy daily foot traffic
Improper or rushed installation
Worn-out padding or tack strips
Staples pulling loose
Pets running up and down stairs
Furniture moving or remodeling
Aging carpet backing
Because stairs flex constantly, even small installation issues quickly turn into wrinkles, sagging, or shifting carpet.
Unlike flat rooms, stairs leave zero room for mistakes. Loose carpet can cause:
Slips and falls
Missed footing on step edges
Bunched fabric catching shoes
Exposed stair noses
Faster carpet wear and tearing
Safety risks for family members or customers
Compass Carpet Repair provides professional carpet stretching, patching, and repair throughout Cincinnati, Greater Cincinnati, and Northern Kentucky.

If your carpet has a rip or tear, there are a few ways to cover it up depending on size and location. Small rips can sometimes be repaired with a patch or hidden under a rug or furniture temporarily, but that doesn’t fix the structural issue. For lasting results, a proper patch is best — learn more about whether you can repair carpet yourself before deciding.
Yes, DIY carpet repair is possible for small areas using a patch kit and some basic tools. The key is matching the carpet fibers and securing the edges so they don’t fray. Larger rips, uneven cuts, or high-traffic areas are harder to repair well. If you’re unsure, check how to fix carpet that a dog tore up for tips before attempting it yourself.
Carpet damage from pets often involves pulling or fraying fibers rather than clean cuts, making it tougher to repair. Start by trimming loose threads and smoothing edges. Small damaged areas can be patched with leftover carpet. For larger tears, professional techniques yield better results. Before you start, you may want to read how to cover up a ripped carpet for ideas on temporary fixes.
Carpet patching costs vary depending on the size of the damaged area, type of carpet, and labor rates. On average, homeowners might pay a modest fee for a single patch, with bigger jobs costing more. Patching is typically cheaper than replacing the whole carpet. If you’re wondering whether to DIY or call a pro, see can you repair carpet yourself before making your decision.
