Carpet Reinstallation & Pad Replacement

Water Damage Service Disclosure

Compass Carpet Repair

Water damage restoration and carpet reinstallation involve underlying conditions that may not be fully visible at the time of service. The following disclosures apply to all water-related carpet services.

1. Source of Water

Customer acknowledges that:

  • The water source has been stopped and corrected prior to reinstallation.

  • Compass Carpet Repair is not responsible for identifying or repairing plumbing, roofing, appliance, or foundation leaks.

  • If moisture returns after installation, it is not the responsibility of Compass Carpet Repair.

If active moisture is detected, service may be delayed.

2. Category of Water

  • Clean water, gray water, and black water contamination require different handling procedures.

  • Compass Carpet Repair does not perform biohazard remediation.

  • Contaminated materials may require full replacement rather than reinstallation.

Health and safety decisions remain the homeowner’s responsibility.

3. Subfloor Condition

Subfloor must be:

  • Structurally sound

  • Dry

  • Free of mold growth

  • Free of rot or delamination

Compass Carpet Repair is not responsible for:

  • Mold development

  • Structural deterioration

  • Odors originating from subfloor materials

  • Pre-existing moisture damage

Subfloor repairs are not included unless agreed in writing.

4. Pad Replacement

When replacing carpet pad:

  • Thickness may vary slightly from original.

  • Carpet feel and firmness may change.

  • Minor height differences at transitions may occur.

  • Existing tack strip may need replacement if water damaged.

Pad replacement improves cushioning but does not restore worn carpet fibers.

5. Carpet Reinstallation

Reinstalling previously water-exposed carpet may result in:

  • Texture changes

  • Minor shrinkage

  • Seam visibility

  • Wrinkling if backing integrity has been compromised

  • Odor retention in some cases

Compass Carpet Repair does not guarantee against future seam separation if carpet backing was weakened by water exposure.

6. Mold & Odor Disclaimer

Compass Carpet Repair is not a licensed mold remediation contractor.

  • Mold spores may exist even if not visible.

  • Odors may persist if originating from walls, baseboards, insulation, or subfloor.

  • Customer assumes responsibility for air quality testing if desired.

No warranty is expressed or implied regarding mold prevention.

7. Drying Verification

Customer acknowledges that:

  • Drying equipment and moisture readings are typically handled by mitigation companies.

  • Compass Carpet Repair relies on visible dryness and customer confirmation.

  • Hidden moisture may exist beyond detectable areas.

8. Trip Hazard & Surface Changes

After reinstallation:

  • Carpet tension may feel different.

  • Pad density changes may alter firmness.

  • Transition height differences may occur.

Use caution until fully accustomed to the repaired area.

9. Warranty Limitation

Water-damaged carpet carries no guarantee against:

  • Future odor

  • Fiber deterioration

  • Seam failure due to backing breakdown

  • Mold recurrence

10. Customer Acknowledgment

By approving service, customer acknowledges:

  • Understanding of water damage risks.

  • Acceptance of limitations of reinstallation.

  • Payment is due upon completion unless otherwise agreed.
