Trip Hazard & Floor Transition Adjustment Disclosure
1. Change in Floor Familiarity
After carpet repair or transition work:
-
The floor may feel tighter, firmer, or slightly different underfoot.
-
Previously loose areas will no longer compress the same way.
-
Transitions or reducers may sit slightly higher or lower than before.
Customers and occupants may need time to adjust to the updated surface.
2. Increased Trip Awareness Period
Any change in flooring condition — even when corrected — may create a temporary unfamiliarity period.
This is especially important for:
-
Elderly individuals
-
Individuals with balance concerns
-
Children
-
Guests unfamiliar with the home
Extra caution should be used when walking across newly repaired areas.
3. Height Variations & Transitions
Where flooring materials meet (carpet to tile, hardwood, vinyl, etc.):
-
Minor height differences may exist.
-
Reducers or transition strips may create slight elevation changes.
-
These changes are normal and often required for proper installation.
Perfectly flush transitions are not always structurally possible.
4. Pre-Existing Structural Conditions
Compass Carpet Repair is not responsible for:
-
Uneven subfloors
-
Sloped foundations
-
Settling homes
-
Pre-existing height inconsistencies between flooring materials
These conditions may affect walking surface uniformity.
5. Customer Responsibility After Installation
After service completion:
-
Customers are responsible for familiarizing themselves and household members with the repaired area.
-
Furniture and rugs should be replaced carefully.
-
Adequate lighting should be maintained in walkways.
Monitoring elderly or mobility-impaired individuals during the adjustment period is strongly recommended.
6. Limitation of Liability
Compass Carpet Repair is not liable for:
-
Trips or falls due to unfamiliarity with newly repaired flooring
-
Injuries resulting from existing structural height differences
-
Falls related to inadequate lighting or obstructions
-
Pre-existing uneven flooring conditions
All work is performed according to standard industry practices.
